Autumnal photography

October 29, 2008

Fall is well on its way toward winter now. The fall colors are just now peaking here in central Maryland and I am taking every opportunity I can get to take pictures of them.

First up are some of the family pictures.

Last Friday I took some time in the afternoon to go to Patapsco State park to hike around and enjoy the fall colors. Unfortunately it was a very overcast day, but it did help out a bit in a few pictures. I am hoping to get back there again this Friday since the weather is supposed to be nice.

Oh the places you’ll go

The last week has been a little hectic, but fun. Over the weekend we went up to my parent’s new condo in State College, PA to visit for a couple of days. It was a lot of fun despite the 12hr stomach flu I suffered through while we were there. The fall colors were about half way to peak while we were there.

We headed home Sunday morning. On Monday since I had off work, the family piled in to the car and headed to Lariland farms in western Howard County to go apple and pumpkin picking. The bags look deceptively small at first. 50lbs of apples later we found 3 small pumpkins for the family and called it a day.

New macro lens

October 6, 2008

I just recently acquired a new lens, a Sigma 50mm f/2.8 macro lens. The lens isn’t in great condition cosmetically, but not bad. Optically and mechanically it is in perfect condition. I should have some fun new pictures soon.
