One of things that I acquired when my Dad gave me his old OM-1 camera and gear was a leather lens case. It is the semi-hard case for OM camera with 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 lens attached. It’s seen some hard use, but it still looks remarkably good for being more then 30 years old. It does a decent job of providing an extra protective layer to the camera body and lens. However it won’t cover a long lens and I used it primarily on my backup camera with a 50mm f/1.8 attached.
Another downside is when changing rolls of film the entire protective case has to be removed to open the camera back.
Hi, could you please tell me if the camera would fit in this case with the 85mm lens mounted?
Thank you,
George
Unfortunately not. The 85/2 is going to be just a little bit too long to fit in the case. The 50/1.4 with lens cap on is pretty much the limit of what can fit within the case in terms of lens size. You might be able to squeeze something a couple of mm longer. You may, I can check if you’d like, be able to fit the 85/2 or 100/2.8 (they are the same size) under the case, but you would not be able to pop the front of the case lose and fold it back over to use the camera, you’d have to take the entire piece off as it wouldn’t be able to hinge over the front of the lens without getting caught.
