Targus Tripod
The tripod I use I received for Christmas recently. It is a Targus TGT-54TR model. It is a budget tripod, but it is very compact and extremely light weight. It has a 3-way panhead on it and it supports up to 3lbs. I have used my OM-1n with 70-210mm f/3.5 attached and it did an okay, but not great job for some lunar eclipse photos. Some photographs taken with shorter and lighter lenses such as my sigma 24mm f/2.8 lens have worked out extremely well with long exposures.
A caution, don’t use this tripod in gusty weather as it is not stable enough. For more stability don’t extend the center column and also don’t extend the legs fully.
The tripod fully extends to 54″ and it is 16″ collapsed. It is around 45″ with the legs extended and the center column collapsed. It comes with a quick release head and the tripod is of aluminum construction. Overall weight is somewhere under, but close to 1lb and it makes a great backpacking tripod due to its small size and low weight.
