Film

There are a few types of film that I use in my photography. My impression on the film are included with each film type.

For general purpose film I use Fuji Superia iso400. It seems to have a decently wide lattitude and it also seems to handle overexposure and some underexposure well. The resolution is reasonable and large blowups are possible.

For higher speed film I use Fuji Superia iso800. The film is fine so long as it is exposed properly or overexposed, but it has very little underexposure tolerance. The resolution is noticably lower then the superia 400, but still quite acceptable for anything other then a really large blowup.

For daylight/high resolution film I use Fuji Reala 100. So far this is my favorite type of color negative film. It seems able to produce very realistic colors and has an exceptionally wide lattitude. It can also tolerate both under and overexposure quite well. Its resoultion is extremely high.

 For B&W work I use Ilford XP2 Super C41 process. The film has quite good resolution and seems to handle both under and over exposure very well.

This spring and summer I plan to try out a number of other types of film, especially high speed film. I am planning on getting a few rolls of Fuji pro 160s, 160c, 400h and 800z, Kodak Porta 160NC, 400NC, 160VC and 400VC. I am generally not a fan of Kodak’s consumer print films, but I have never tried any of their professional print films.
