I have quite a few lenses for the OM series of cameras. Within these pages it is my intention to give my opinions and some hard data about each lens that I own or at least each model of lens (in the case of multiples).
My goal is to eventually collect as many lenses as I possibly can, though unless I strike it really rich, I probably will never collect some of the truly rare and expensive lenses, such as the Zuiko 180 f/2, 250 f/2 or 350/2.8.
Eventually for each lens I want to include test photos at all aperatures with 100% blowups of scans around 2000-3000dpi for comparison and I’ll probably even create a master comparison list of lenses of similar focal lengths at a couple of different f-stops to compare their performance with each other. My current scanner is an Epson 4470. My test methodology is to take test photos tripod mounted using MLU and a cable release of a booksheld in my basement taking center and edge crops at 100% from 3200dpi scans, no sharpening, no ICE, no dust or noise reduction. I do all of my test photos (now at least) at approximately the same magnifcation (around 1:30) so as to ensure a relatively uniform comparison between lenses. Some of my earlier tests were quite as uniform, and time and extra film permiting I’ll go back and standardize those as well (Zuiko 50mm, 85/2 and 135/3.5), however those lens tests are still applicable, they just aren’t as standarized in magnification or test target as my more recent lens tests.
Currently I am attempting to acquire a number of new lenses. Money is tight, so it will probably be sometime before I really add to my lens lineup. My current list of ‘wants’ is as follows, in no particular order.
Zuiko 300mm f/4.5, 24mm f/2, 35mm f/2, 100mm f/2 and f/2.8, Zuiko 21mm f/3.5, Zuiko 35mm f/2.8 shift, Tamron or Sigma 300mm f/2.8, Tamron 180mm f/2.5, Tamron or Sigma 90mm f/2.5/2.8 Macro, Spiratone 85mm f/1.7, , Sigma 15/16mm f/2.8 fisheye, Zuiko 50mm f/1.2, Zuiko 40mm f/2, Tamron 400mm f/4. Also a Sigma 500mm f/4.5, though I am not entirely sure that it was made in OM mount (they were manufacturered during the right time period to have been made in OM mount).
Many of the lenses are going to take a long time to acquire, mostly due to their cost or scarcity, or both.
Under the Lens section I have a section on each and every lens I have ever owned in OM mount. I try to include sample photos, specifications of each lens and my opinions on it. Also lens tests where I have been able to get around to them. I generally only keep lenses that I particularly care for. My current lens list is as follows.
Vivitar 1.5x tc, Vivitar 2x tc, Sigma 14mm f/3.5, Zuiko 24mm f/2.8, Sigma 28mm f/1.8, Tamron 28mm f/2.5, Zuiko 35mm f/2.8, Zuiko 50mm f/1.8, Zuiko 50mm f/1.4, Zuiko 85mm f/2, Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f/3.5, Sigma 70-210mm f/2.8 APO, Zuiko 135mm f/3.5, Sigma 50mm f/2.8 macro, Sigma 400mm f/5.6 APO
