Well a week between posts would seem pretty good to me if it wasn’t for the fact that these are all pictures I scanned a good month ago. C’est la vie.
These couple of Yoga pictures my wonderful and patient wife allowed me to take despite the massive swarm of mosquitos draining our life’s blood. Not to be dramatic or anything. It was my first real opportunity to play with my new Cactus IV wireless triggers and I must say it worked out well. I was using a Cactus IV wireless trigger on a Vivtar 285hv to the left of the camera bounced off of an Impact 32″ umbrella on a stand about chest level. I need to play with the technique some more, but I am a BIG fan. I didn’t think I’d ever be a strobist, but the things you can do with wireless flash are almost enough to make me giggle, or maybe it is cackle, with glee when I see the developed film. Call me easily amused.
And a brief note on this one and the top sailboat picture. The great thing about an ultra wide is you can get close. I was probably standing 3ft from the front ponton of the catamaran when taking the pictures. That an ultra wide allows a pretty slow shutter speed handheld. I took the night picture at f/4, ISO400 film and around 1/8s and it is very sharp blown up even.
