I had hoped to have the E-M5 by this past weekend as I had a wedding to attend, but I “somehow” made do with just my wife’s E-PL1. The wedding was a lot of fun. My mother was in town for the day to watch the older kids while my wife and I went to the wedding with our daughter in tow (a little too young to easily leave behind, especially with Grandma having to watch and get to bed two very rambuncious kids already). It was the wedding of my wife’s long term friend (and by long term I mean their mother’s were friends from high school and my wife and her friend’s birthdays are only 3 months off).
It was a nice ceremony and reception and Maggie was great. She was also apparently the wedding favor as she got passed around a lot (I think the final count was at least 6 different people, not including my in-laws, myself or my wife) ended up holding her and/or dancing with her.

Sigma 30mm, f/3.5, 1/500s, ISO200: There were pictures in between, but we were seated near the back and on the end of the asile, so the ceremony pictures themselves weren’t all that great.
Panasonic 14mm, f/2.5, 1/60s, ISO400: My father-in-law drew our attention the really great seafood bisque. The dinner was just fine, but I really could have gone in with just a large bowl of the bisque from the hors d’oeuvres and some crackers to crumble in it. I probably had 3 helpings of the bisque during the hors d’oeuvres though 😀

Panasonic 14mm, f/5, 1/50s, ISO200: I can only take credit for this photo in so far as setting up the camera for my mother-in-law to take the picture (well that and actually managing a smile that doesn’t look pained or fake for once).
Panasonic 14mm, f/2.5, 1/320s, ISO200: Food and drink shots I think are a requirement for any good outting.

On a digression from the topic of the wedding and just to rant for a couple of seconds (just to blow off some steam), it is really starting to get under my skin that it is taking this long to get the E-M5 I preordered. In part because now I am starting to “miss events” that it would have been really great to have had it for, like this wedding. I highly doubt I’ll have it in time for the beach this weekend at my in-laws for Memorial day, which is another event “missed” without it. I just hope like heck it’ll be here soon. My wife is having a family reunion at the beach the week of the 4th that is going to have grandparents (now great grandparents) flown in from Florida, cousins and aunts and uncles down from New York and siblings from California (who may be in Virgina for an internship this summer). It is the first time everyone has been all together since our wedding nearly 6 years ago and with the age of some of the participants it might be the last time we can all get together (it is my wife’s grandmother’s 85th birthday). Once we get in to June I am going to be getting in to desperation mode to get the camera pretty much trying to find any source I can, especially by mid June. In addition I decided instead of waiting until this fall to get another lens, I decided that I really should get the Olympus 45mm f/1.8 before the reunion. That, I’ll probably wait on till about mid June as well. I don’t want to wait too long as I’d like a couple of weeks to play with it and also make sure it is a good copy. So anyway, I know I pre-ordered late in the game (4/3), but it is getting a little ridiculous that the camera has been “available” for 5 weeks in the US now and I still don’t have it and from the rumbling on photography forums, maybe, roughly, half of the people who pre-ordered before the release date actually have theirs so far. I didn’t expect Olympus to have enough on hand to fulfill all pre-orders the very first day, but to be 5 weeks in and maybe only filling half of all pre-orders, not including all of those people who have ordered it since it was released or who are anxiously awaiting there to be stock on shelves it a mite ridiculous in my opinion.
