Well my son graduated. From the 3 year to 4 year pre-school class. Not exactly the most momentous thing in the world…but a lot better than being told he needs to be held back because he isn’t developmentally ready to be in a class with other 4yr olds. A nice little picnic at a local park with all the other 3yr old pre-school classes (there are 4 of them total).
Sigma 30mm, f/2.8, 1/2000s, ISO200
After that is was rushing home, throwing everything in the car and off to the beach.
Olympus 14-42mm @22mm, f/10, 1/500s, ISO200
A ton of pictures from that, but no time yet to sort through them really.
The anticipation is multifold. I am still anticipating getting the OM-D E-M5. I put in a pre-order with Adorama over the weekend for the 14-42 kit as those at least previously seemed to be in decent supply (which also seems to have dried up). I also put my name down with a camera store that was recommended to me. I am only a handful of names down on their call list, but no ETA on cameras, other than “we should have a few more in soon”. Lastly I am really considering just buying overseas even at a premium. I think by mid June at the latest I may have to resort to that if I want to get the camera before the week of the 4th. At any rate, a number of pre-orders to possibly have to cancel, but it would be nice if one came through in the clinch.
The other part of the anticipation is that, I may or may not have mentioned it earlier, decided to buy the Olympus 45mm f/1.8 before the family reunion. So over the weekend I ordered it from one of the SK dealers on Ebay (K-trend2011). $340 shipped and according to the Fedex tracking information actually shipped out yesterday and should be here tomorrow (maybe slipping in to Friday?).
Also a slight plug here, but I decided to also go ahead and sell my Sigma 28mm f/1.8. It has been good to me and I am sorry to see it go, but between getting the Olympus 45mm and also possibly having/needing/deciding to pay a premium to get an E-M5 before the end of June I need the extra money. Here is the ebay listing in case you are interested http://www.ebay.com/itm/150826636505?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
I am still undecided about which 50mm to sell. Originally I was planning on selling the 50/1.4 and keeping the 50/1.8 MIJ…when demounting it last night to take pictures to put it up on Ebay, I got a bit misty eyed and decided to put off the decision for a little while longer. I am also unsure if I am going to keep the Zuiko 100mm f/2.8. It is a wonderful lens, but I just don’t know that I am going to use it much/at all with an adapter nor with the limited film I am probably going to shoot, on my OM-1 anymore. I have the Olympus m.Zuiko 40-150mm f/4-5.6 that covers the range and is a pretty good lens (a little larger, even with adapter, but much lighter). It is about 1 1/2 stops slower at 100mm though, but has really fast and silent autofocus instead of having to deal with manual focus.
If I could afford to buy the Olympus 75mm f/1.8 it would be an easy decision, but alas.
