I am now officially looking forward to getting home from work today and not just because work is dragging on or my beautiful wife and children are waiting for me. It’s all that of course, but the FedEx tracking information says my wife signed for the Olympus 45/1.8 about 10 minutes after I walked out the door this morning!
In other, possibly more exciting news, I also managed to source an OM-D. The constantly checking a dozen sites several times an hour all day long plus driving my wife up a wall talking about it all the time finally got to me/her. eBay the last couple of days has started to have used OM-Ds listed up and I jumped on one. It was the same price as a brand new one, but the seller has great feedback, and at this point, paying the same price for someone with a few hundred (or even a couple of thousand) shutter activations doesn’t bother me all that much since it is supposedly in like new condition.
It is black + 14-42 kit instead of a silver body only, but I’ve come to peace with that. There will be other cameras some other time and so long as Olympus continues producing cameras, I’d imagine there will be a silver OM-D EM-6 and maybe other future OM-D models. Unless Olympus financial troubles sink them, the camera and especially the silver bodies seem to be a run away success for Olympus.
Hopefully the OM-D will be here sometime next week and I can move on from pining about how I can’t find the camera anywhere to annoying you with how wicked cool I find it. Oh and starting to do the real lens tests and more in-depth reviews I have been wanting to do and holding off of.
