We had a nice little storm blow by us last night. I certainly didn’t keep track of all of the lightning, but if I had to take a guess I’d say that the storm was generating between 1-2 visible lightning strikes per second if you averaged it out. Unfortunately most of the lightning was obscured by the clouds, but I did finally have a real chance to try photographing lightning. Set up the tripod on the back deck and alternated between the 14mm, 17mm and the 30mm lenses and still generally had to crop pretty heavily to get the actual bolts of lightning.
Still and all, fun.
